As we come to the end of week 7 and move into the last few weeks of ONE THING, we have been reflecting on God’s love. This theme appeared in both Psalm 100 and Psalm 136 which were preached on last Sunday (28 th ) There are many reasons to thank God and to enter into His presence with praise – and his love is prominent among those reasons. Those services were marked by a sense of God’s presence and on Sunday evening we especially had a great time as individuals completed thank you cards and many of them were read out, showing a multitude of reasons to give thanks to God.
This week we have looked at Psalms 96, 100, 102, 103 and 106 and enjoyed the prayer watches and the half night of prayer last Wed night. I wonder how you have been getting on with some scripture memorisation.
One of our verses this week was Romans 12 v2 “Therefore, I urge you brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship”
And also Psalm 103 v1
“Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name”
Say them over a few times and try to memorise them.
Pursuing the presence of God is not easy. There are so many factors which press against us and which want to incline our hearts away from the Lord. We often have to fight against these inclinations and have an intentionality about it. Some have been doing that during their lunch breaks by setting deliberate time aside to pray more and enter into God’s presence, even in the middle of a busy day.
Remember to set aside time for Encounter week and especially Tues – Thursday 20 th -22 nd November. These will be nights with a difference as we intentionally pursue God’s presence.
Be blessed this week with ONE THING
